Lucas had his first birthday last June 18th. His celebration started early when we woke him up, congratulated him and put on the new clothes that we purchased in France for the special occasion. Got him ready and drove to the bakery then Robert and I could buy something to bring to our respective offices. Here in Denmark (same as Argentina) if you have something to celebrate, like your birthday, you bring cake or pastries to share with everybody.
Then drove to daycare, and there was a little sign announcing Lucas bday!!.
We came back to the daycare after lunch, and brought sweet bread for the kids. When I was ordering the birthday cake at the bakery, they explained to me, that they prepare a giant sweet bread, man shaped, for the daycares, some parents disapprove the cakes because of the sugar content. We sang happy birthday to Lucas, who started crying immediately… poor guy, but he felt better when started eating the bread.
After the mini-celebration we drove to Copenhagen for his first hair cut. I think this was Lucas' favorite part of the day, that we "rescue" him early from daycare. He is having a hard time adjusting to daycare. He was a good baby during the haircut, mainly due that it was his first time trying a lollypop. It became gross at some point with his sticky hands, face and the lollypop with hairs… at the end he looked really handsome, and in my opinion, better looking than before the haircut.
We also took him shopping in Copenhagen, he needed a white or light top for his photo shoot next day.
When we arrived home Lucas opened his presents: a tent with a tunnel, and a wooden car. He loved them. He got also many phone calls, emails and facebook messages because of his birthday.
It was a happy day for Lucas and us. We are going to have an intimate party for Lucas in our place as soon as we have the place ready. He will have real cake in that one.
