There is always something new to learn about Geology so I went to Almeria in Spain to check some rocks. Almeria is located in the South of Spain, just in front of Africa, in a desert named Tabernas.
This part of Spain has Moorish influence. The Moorish, aka Arabs, lived in Spain for about 800 years. They lived in peace with Christians and Jewish for all that long. But somewhere in the 1400s the religious tolerance ended and the Jewish and Moorish were expelled.
The Moorish influence is still perceived in the architecture and today some Arabs are settled in that region. There is one part of the city with big Arab influence and we had dinner in some nice Morocan restaurants.
Also the Tabernas desert is famous for being the location for many Hollywood movies including "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" & "The last crusade (Indiana Jones). They have movie studios and abandoned set locations that you can visit.
